Nano Ink Jet Quartz Is Here!
We are excited to now be offering the newest technology in countertops available on the market. In this article, we take a closer look at ink jet technology.
The benefits of using ink jet quartz vs traditional quartz materials and natural stones.
The differences you may find between suppliers. And how to care for your new countertops for years to come.
What exactly is Ink Jet printed quartz?
Ink Jet quartz is the same traditional quartz crystals that are mined from the earth, ground and re-formed into slabs of super dense, stain and heat-resistant material.
The big difference here is that the pattern instead of being added to a crushed mixture or machine imprinted into the slab is now laser printed on the surface of the quartz.
Using high-definition imaging with ultra fine print resolutions this gives unlimited options as far as patterns and colour go.
Thus, allowing the quartz to look exactly like a natural stone or porcelain while maintaining durability.
What makes Ink Jet Quartz Superior to natural options?
Although not all products are created equally from every supplier. There are many qualities that truly make ink jet quartz the best option on the market today.
Quartz is typically 93% natural quartz stone(s) or higher, and 7% resin. That makes it the most dense, non-porous material vs natural stones. Therefore, never needing sealed, treated or polished in the future.
But the big difference is in the visual. The technology now allows for the same natural look that draws the eye to a natural product without even knowing the difference in most cases.
The printing process is superior to traditional quartz looks where pattern is machine embedded to the stone. This creates the most naturally occurring look.
Care and Cleaning of Ink Jet Quartz
Always check with your stone supplier but here is a simple guide for care and maintenance of your ink jet quartz.
For every day cleaning use a dishcloth with warm water and dish soap.
For stubborn or greasy clean-ups use a PH neutral liquid cleaner such as Mr. Clean,
409, Simple Green, Fantastic etc. or ordinary dish washing detergent e.g. Palmolive
with warm water applied with a soft sponge or dishcloth.
For any persistent stains, scuff marks or food colourants use: Barkeepers friend, Vim or Soft Scrub products without bleach can be applied first to a wetted sponge or dishcloth, and
then applied to the countertop surface.
Please note that an aggressive use of more abrasive non-chemical cleaners can result in the dulling of the surface.
To sanitize ink jet surface, a 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol solution can be used
or a Lysol Disinfectant spray.
Avoid using sponges that contain aluminum oxide (the same abrasive in sand pap
